The countdown to 'The Green Hornet' is on! Seth Rogen gets serious as the masked crimefighter when the movie hits theaters January 14 in 3D, but there were lots of laughs on the fun set -- and we're behind the scenes for all the action!
"You have to show people something they've never seen before," says Seth. "I mean, that's what I like when I go see an action movie. I come away with those moments where you're just like, 'Wow, I've never quite seen that before.'"
Rogen plays Britt Reid, a rich, spoiled playboy who is heir to Los Angeles' largest newspaper fortune. When his father ( Tom Wilkinson ) dies, Britt teams up with resourceful company employee Kato (Taiwanese artist Jay Chou ) to do something worthwhile with the resources at his disposal.
Armed with the help of his new secretary, Lenore Case ( Cameron Diaz ), and The Black Beauty, an indestructible, weapon-packed car, The Green Hornet and Kato battle chief underworld criminal Benjamin Chudnofsky ('Inglourious Basterds' baddie Christoph Waltz ) and his united army of gangs.
"Lenore is smarter than the both of them put together," says Cameron of Britt and Kato with a laugh. "They don't really know what they're doing. ... They have no idea how the criminal mind works."
"[Cameron is] always looking for new little ways to do [a scene], and funny little things to do, and she really enjoys that," says Seth of his statuesque co-star. "It's just always nice when you work with somebody who's really into it and really loves it and enjoys it, you know?"
As for Jay Chou as his butt-kicking sidekick Kato, Seth recalls, "It was instantly clear that he was super-cool and that it would be wrong to see him taking orders from me. … He kind of seems like a pop star, you know? He's really charismatic, he's handsome, he has the cool hair, and he just seemed like the last guy who should be subservient to me."
Directed by Michel Gondry ('Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind') with a script written by Seth and Evan Goldberg ('Superbad,' 'Pineapple Express'), 'The Green Hornet' is based upon the classic radio serial, which ran from 1936 to 1952. Check out the trailer!
