.
Every year movies come out more and more, and while some people grumble under their breath and curse the fact that they pay so much money to sit in cheaply made seats from some South Eastern Asian country, eating cardboard with butter on it, and burning their retinas into little jelly nubs. Not me, I enjoy paying out the Wazoo my hard-earned dollars on the chance to see a good movie. So what are we going to expect for this next year?
Everybody remembers the Green Hornet . He and Kato were the definition of cool. Add in the funny man, Seth Rogen, and add in the very successful foreign man, Jay Chou, you have the makings for a potentially good movie. Seth Rogen’s name originally made me draw back with distaste. I do love me some Green Hornet though, so we’ll just have to wait and see. Slated for release on January 11, 2011, this would be a good way to kick off your new year.
X-Men movies may be degrading as time progresses but even though Wolverine wasn’t great, X-Men : First Class should be. Based on the relationship between Charles Xavier , and Magneto from a time when they were best friends to the eventual formation of two separate mutant factions: Professor X’s X-Men, and Magneto’s Brotherhood. Expect this little doozey to drop down July 1.
I’ve been waiting for this movie for a long time ago. It was so long ago, that the original actor announced for the titular character was Triple H , former world champion of the WWE . Yeah, that long ago. So what do we have now? Chris Hemsworth .IS the god of thunder. Whether or not this actor is a better fit, I’ll leave up to you when the movie releases May 6.
We all know that in the Marvel universe Ryan Reynolds plays the Human Torch . Well? Now he’s also the? Aggravating? A little bit yeah, but I am not going to let it get to me. The Green Lantern is by far one of the best superheroes of all time, (behind Batman of course) and while I think he very well might’ve said Flame On, while filming this movie, in July of 2011, I’m sure we’ll all be laughing about it.
I get the same reaction from the two different Age groups. When asking the majority of people over 30 that I know, what they thought about anothermovie, they looked at me as if I had three heads exclaiming “Another one?!” When asking the majority of people 18 and under, what they thought of another Captain America movie, they looked at me as If I had three heads exclaiming “There are more?!” Whatever side you fall on, it’ll be interesting to see where this goes. Who knows? We could end up with an Emo- Superman type movie like Superman Returns , or it could be a flop, like The Incredible Hulk . We’ll see for ourselves on July 22.
Some people think that Marvel is pushing out too many superhero movies too fast. Want to know why they are? Besides the fact that Disney is now the force behind Marvel Studios, it is a means to lead up to. Thor, Hulk, Captain America, Hawkeye , and more unite to form the Avengers . Expect this pretty little number to release sometime in mid 2012.
So whether you fight the wrath of god with Thor, or you are crusading crime fighters with Britt Reid and Kato, there is really no way you can go wrong, with a bucket of popcorn, a big ol’ soda, and a good Superhero movie.
