Those are just some of the monikers on this year's Time 100 list of the most influential folk in the galaxy ( www.time.com/time100 ). Sure, President Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron made the cut, as did Prince William and Kate Middleton . So did far more important personages such as Matt Damon and Sting .
In a sweet literary move, each person listed is praised by Another Famous Boldfacer .
"He can be the glamorous celebrity, but look closely at photos of him on the red carpet: there is a kindness in his eyes," writes Dame Helen Mirren of Colin Firth , 50.
Elisabeth Moss celebrates her Mad Men boss Matt Weiner , 45: "He is a true artist, a seeker of truth." (And of really cool period outfits.)
R.E.M .'s Michael Stipe 's ditty, on the coolest boldfacer on the list, Patti Smith , 64, is veritably stratospheric: "With [her memoir] Just Kids . . . Patti reminds us that innocence, utopian ideals, beauty and revolt are enlightenment's guiding stars in the human journey."
Love is a great beautifier . . . Actor, director, novelist Ethan Hawke , 40, has added to his creative oeuvre: Us Weekly says his wife, Ryan Shawhughes , is five months pregnant with the couple's second baby. (Their daughter, Clementine , will turn 3 in July.) "She's got an adorable little basketball belly," Anonymous Source tells the mag of Ryan. Ethan, late of Uma Thurman 's matrimonial bed, wed Ryan in '08. He and Uma have two kids, Levon and Maya . You want the royals? Not! Given all the fuss, you'd think every American plans to watch Prince William and Kate Middleton say their I dos on April 29. Not so!
According to a survey of 2,842 American consumers by shopping site PriceGrabber.com, 77 percent of our fair citizens have no intention of tuning in. And, in what is sure to be a blow to the British economy, 92 percent say they'll not shell out a penny to buy wedding memorabilia.
Yet, we do love them so . . . What about folks who do want to see the do?
An American Express study finds that more than three in five of 'em would be willing to shell out $600 on average to go if invites were on sale.
Speaking of cash, the future Mrs. William Windsor (who, by the by, is the first gal of non-noble birth to wed a future king of England since the 1600s ) on Tuesday spent $350 for three dresses and a blouse at one of those cost-saving warehouse-ian outlets in London, People says. It's probably for the honeymoon, which rumors say the couple will spend in Jordan ( really?! ).
In other news of the Crown, Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her 85th b'day Thursday with a Royal Maundy Thursday service at Westminster Abbey. Later, she signed the official royal consent form to Prince William's marriage.
'Run the World (Girls)' That's the witty title of Beyoncé 's new single, which hit radio stations and iTunes at 8 a.m. Thursday. B also has posted a sneak peek at the song's vid, which has her riding a beautiful, and no doubt equally witty, horse ( www.beyonceonline.com ). USA Today says B and hub Jay-Z , who marked their third wedding anniversary (April 4) in the Bahamas, are having fun this week, doing the cafe thing in Paris. A local actor on reality TV Blue Bell native and Cardinal O'Hara High alum Mike Lyons will be featured on Friday night's edition of ABC's distance-learning course What Would You Do? , a hidden-camera seminar on situational ethics. Lyons, a 20-year thespianic veteran, plays a diner manager who cruelly harasses a pregnant waitress (a fellow actor) in front of real diners in a real Long Island greasy spoon. The object lesson? To see if customers will intervene. Do they? Tune in . . . A real-life comic in reality TV Saturday Night Live funnydude Seth Meyers helped Martha Stewart mark the 1,000th episode of The Martha Stewart Show on Wednesday by helping the domestic maven erect a tower made up of 1,000 Billy's Bakery cupcakes.
