This is an amazing product for the money. A quick list of the features:
- uses 3 AA batteries
- Can hold four messages of up to 16 characters each
- Full alphabet (upper case) and a set of symbols, punctuation, and numbers
- Programmable with three buttons
- Hand-held or sits on flat surface, includes lanyard
- Batteries included
The good:
It works! You can easily program four messages into the fan in a few minutes and then switch between them by pressing a button. The messages have several animations they cycle through, making them more eye-catching.
It's incredibly inexpensive.
The bad:
The messages disappear when you take out the batteries. I wish it could keep them to save you the trouble of reentering them. It would also be nice if there was a plug-in power adapter available.
It doesn't push that much air. I have used hand-held fans that use a single AA battery that move a lot more air than this one, which has three times the power.
The LEDs are in one fan blade and make it a bit heavier than the other one, so the fan vibrates a bit.
The lanyard has a cheap clasp that I don't trust. I'm afraid that if I hang it around my neck or on a hook, the clasp will pop open and the fan will fall and break.
The batteries included with my model were stone dead.
Conclusion:
Even though I have a lot of small complaints about this product, I highly recommend it. It's so cool, and works so well, and costs so little. I'd give it five stars if it kept the messages during a battery swap.
I'm buying a bunch more of them for gifts. I plan to program them with inspirational and/or funny messages beforehand - a kind of animated, breezy greeting card.
