MOVIE goers in the south-west will be spoilt for choice this week, with the Capitol Cinema in Warrnambool screening what is believed to be a record number of films.
Over the next seven days, fourteen different movies will be screened, and cinema staff will be working around the clock to do it.
"We're trying something different, and this time of year there are a fair few movies out there so we're try get as much product as can out to people," cinema manager Greg Gent said.
"We want to give people as many options as we can. I don't think we've ever had this many movies."
Morning screenings (9.20am) of The Chronicles Of Narnia: Voyage Of The Dawn Treader will kickstart the cinema day, while the addition of late night movie screenings (from 11.30pm) on Thursday, Friday and Saturday will make it a long day for cinema employees and those trying to catch as many films as possible.
The cinema is also running a movie marathon for the first time in a few years.
"This is our busiest time of year and there are a lot of people around on holidays," Mr Gent said.
New releases this week are Michel Gondry's superhero actioner The Green Hornet and Oscar favourite The King's Speech, which open today, and The Coen Brothers' remake of the John Wayne classic True Grit, which opens on Wednesday.
Also new to the south-west are late-night only screenings of Bruce Willis-Helen Mirren-Morgan Freeman vehicle Red and vampire movie Let Me In, which is a remake of the critically acclaimed Swedish film Let The Right One In.
The movie marathon on Tuesday will line-up The Green Hornet, The Tourist, and Golden Globe winner The Social Network.
Meanwhile Port Fairy's summer season of films is wrapping up in the coming weeks. Among the remaining movies you can catch at the Reardon Theatre are French film Micmacs, Aussie actioner Tomorrow When The War Began, the 1939 classic The Wizard Of Oz and Australian films Storm Boy, Waiting City and Wake In Fright.
