Sideshow: Can't keep Aretha down

Aretha Franklin isn't going anywhere - certainly not to the Afterlife. So the Queen of Soul announced by phone Wednesday on Wendy Williams ' talk show. "My health is superb. It is superb," said Franklin, 68, a month after undergoing surgery for an undisclosed condition. So is she battling cancer? (It's pancreatic or bladder cancer, depending on reports.) The diva, who is recovering at a hotel-casino in Detroit, didn't say.

The lively chat also touched on movies and music.

Franklin said she's close to signing a deal for a movie about her life, saying she'd want Halle Berry to play her.

She also told Williams she's so impressed by R. Kelly 's love song "When a Woman Loves" that if Kelly "isn't careful I might become a cougar."

Williams asked the Queen if reports were true she has "a little boyfriend" in her life.

"There's no little boyfriends," Franklin said. "I have men." Now that certainly sounds healthy.

Want to end war, famine, misery, poverty, murder, and the other miseries that plague life on Earth? Put a woman in charge.

So Susan Sarandon says in a chat with Parade.com. "The world would be different if any woman were in charge," she says.

Sarandon admits she's "been seriously disappointed by a lot of women in office." But she says she prefers women's instincts for problem-solving: "I think that maybe it's possible for a woman to be less ego-involved in solving problems."

Tyler Perry is the king, baby!

Perry's For Colored Girls dominated the feature category with seven noms, while Why Did I Get Married Too? picked up four. House of Payne and Meet the Browns also received noms in the TV category. Lead actor nods went to Denzel Washington for Eli and Jaden Smith for The Karate Kid , while Halle Berry ( Frankie & Alice ) and Janet Jackson ( Married Too ) were nominated for best actress. Nicole Kidman may not be of divine origin, after all. In a shocking admission, the Rabbit Hole star says she's done Botox.

"I've tried a lot of things, but aside from sports and good nutrition, most things don't make a difference," Kidman, 43, tells German mag TV Movie about her health 'n' beauty regimen. "I have also tried Botox."

She hated it. "I didn't like how my face looked. . . . I don't use it anymore - I can move my forehead again!"

Speaking of the 'tox, Kim Kardashian is peeved about reports she's had a Botox lip-inflation. "I have the flu. I'm puffy and swollen, and I have no makeup on," she tells celeb show Extra . . . . Kelly Clarkson has named the pet goat she got for Christmas Billy Joel . "He doesn't like anyone else on the land, but he loves me," she says on her Facebook page.

Terminator 2 and Green Hornet 's Edward Furlong , 33, was arrested Tuesday in Lalaland for violating a restraining order his estranged wife, Rachel Kneeland , obtained in September after claiming Furlong had assaulted her. Furlong denies the allegations. He is out on $75,000 bail. The couple, who have a 4-year-old son, Ethan , are in the midst of a nasty divorce.

There's no biz like showbiz, baby!

Katie Holmes , fresh off her stint playing Jacqueline Kennedy , has signed to be the face - and arm and tummy and leg and foot and pinkie and torso - of consumer goods purveyor Ann Taylor. Tom Cruise 's wife exults at making such a faith commitment: "I am thrilled to be part of a brand I believe in."

USA Today says John Goodman , who has shed more than 100 pounds over the last six months, will play the villain in the fourth season of Glenn Close and Rose Byrne 's sizzling legal drama, Damages .
