Sony CES Press Conference

Today was the official start of Consumer Electronics Show otherwise known as CES. And though it started slow the show started to pick up later in the day and ended pretty good. The Sony press conference started with a 3D trailer of The Green Hornet. After the trailer the 2 heroes of The Green Hornet, Seth Rogen and Jay Chou, and the CEO, President, and Chairman of Sony, Sir Howard Stringer. After talking about the movie with Seth and Jay; Sir Stringer started talking about the future of Sony and its 3D function throughout its Sony products, as well as a new way to listen to music for all of its products.

Sir Stringer spoke about the future models of the Sony Bravia series and its 3D compatibility. He called this “Television Redifined.” For the 2011 year Sony will have 16 new 3D capable as well as 22 internet-connected models; all in all 22 new models of Bravia is planned to be released during the year 2011. And most of these TVs are SKYPE capable as well. He spoke about a new Bravia model, HX929, which is due out on August 2011. This Bravia is measured to be 65 inches and is 3D capable and internet-connected. He also spoke a little about their partnership with Google for Google TV.

After speaking about the new models of Bravia he spoke about , “3D Total Solution for a 3D World.” He spoke about the world’s first 3D camcorder, HDR-TD10, to record in “Double Full HD,” or 1920×1080 times 2. This makes the 3D content playable on Full HD 2D television. This also makes the 3D content playable without 3D glasses on the camcorder LCD screen. Their camcorder is not the only one to go 3D; Sony’s Cyber-shot line is also going 3D. Sony is going to introduce 5 new Cyber-shot with 3D capabilities. The Sony VAIO F series will also be 3D compatible.

After all these new products being introduced Sony could not just end the Conference with a whimper. They had Cirque De Soleil cast from Viva Elvis close with a bang. They had dancers and a guy doing hand stands on chairs and finally a wine bottle. That was a great way to end a press conference.
