Seth Rogen & Joseph Gordon-Levitt Cancer Comedy Renamed ’50/50′

‘I’m With Cancer’ has a new name (’50/50′) and a new release date (September 30th). Find out more about the Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt comedy in our report.

Cancer is rarely funny, but don’t tell that to Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The pair of actors are teaming to appear in 50/50 , formerly titled I’m With Cancer , a new comedy from The Wackness director Jonathan Levine.

The movie, which is based on a script from Will Reiser, and mirrors Reiser’s real-life experience being diagnosed with cancer, features Gordon-Levitt as a young man fighting cancer and Rogen as his supportive friend. James McAvoy was originally going to star in the film, but decided to drop out for personal reasons.

Alongside Rogen and Gordon-Levitt, 50/50 features an impressive cast including Anna Kendrick, Bryce Dallas Howard, Philip Baker Hall, and Anjelica Huston. In addition to its new title, 50/50 also pushed its release back a week to September 30th, according to.

Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are two of the busiest guys in Hollywood. Last month, Rogen tried his hand at playing an action hero in The Green Hornet , and the actor has lent his voice to the upcoming sci-fi comedyand the animated film Kung Fu Panda 2 . Meanwhile, Gordon-Levitt is coming off the massive success of Christopher Nolan’s Inception , and has recently joined the cast of Nolan’s third Batman film , The Dark Knight Rises . Given their respective schedules, it’s kind of amazing that the actors were able to cross paths.

I’m excited to see Rogen and Gordon-Levitt in 50/50 . JGL is definitely a talented actor, so you know you’re likely to get a good performance from him. Also, while he is known for his comedic roles, Rogen has a knack for playing characters with a lot of heart. Putting the two together in a movie about friendship in the face of cancer will likely get a lot of laughs and, if played right, maybe even a few tears.

Does this project sound like something you’d be interested in seeing? Let us know what you think of the Rogen/Gordon-Levitt pairing in the comments.
