People: Cameron Diaz wants A-Rod as co-star in movie - The Denver Post

Cameron Diaz wants to co-star in a romantic comedy with her boyfriend Alex Rodriguez.

"The Green Hornet" actress' idea would feature, appropriately, a baseball player, a source close to her told Britain's Daily Express.

Diaz has been spending her spring in Tampa, watching Major League Baseball's highest-paid player and the New York Yankees train for their home opener Thursday.

"She's very excited about developing her own projects, and the fact this one is about a baseball player means she has good reason to spend more time with A-Rod and the Yankees," the source said.

Up until now, A-Rod, 35, who has also dated Kate Hudson and Madonna, has appeared only in commercials.

does star in a movie with Diaz, he'll be the third New York pro ball player to co-star with her, (Lawrence Taylor in "Any Given Sunday" and Brett Favre in "There's Something About Mary".)

Rob Lowe gives fellow Brat Packer Charlie Sheen a slight edge when it comes to partying.

Lowe tells Vanity Fair that in past days, he and Sheen "competed to see who could play harder, then show up for work." Lowe recently finished his autobiography and shared excerpts with the magazine. He calls Sheen "a wonderful mix of nerd and rebel" and speaks of days when the two were relatively unknown actors who plotted their careers in Sheen's pool.

Sheen has made headlines for his wild partying. He was fired from his hit CBS show, then alleged breach of contract and sued the show's producers.

The May issue of Vanity Fair will be on newsstands in New York and Los Angeles on Thursday and across the nation April 5.

What was Sheen (born into show business thanks to his father Martin) like back in the day?

One-of-a-kind," he writes in an excerpt from the book "A Polo preppy clotheshorse in a world of O.P. shorts and surf T-shirts."

neighbors, but living vastly different lives. "At my house we are still saving money by not buying desserts," writes Lowe, who has been happily married to wife Sheryl for 20 years, and has two kids. "At Charlie's house, it's never-ending Häagen-Dazs, brand-new BMWs, a lagoon pool with underwater tunnels, and a lit, professional-grade basketball half-court."

Meanwhile Sheen may be "winning," as he puts it, but local ticket brokers aren't when it comes to his touring show.

More than 2,800 seats for Sheen's upcoming shows at Radio City Music Hall were available on StubHub Monday, and sellers were listing prices below face-value on Craigslist.com, according to the New York Daily News.

"I'm worried. I need him to do something else stupid so I can unload all these tickets," Chris Catalano, a broker with Direct Entertainment in Englewood, N.J., told the Daily News.

Catalano bought 85 tickets for Sheen's midtown shows on April 8 and 10. He's sold fewer than 10.

"We bought them on a whim, and I guarantee we're going to take a loss," he said.

"If he isn't filled up with drugs, he won't be funny. People who buy tickets now, they're going to see a car crash."

Allen Wright, a telecom worker and amateur broker in West Palm Beach, Fla., spent $1,500 on tickets to Sheen's shows in New York, Detroit, Chicago and Boston.

He's sold one -- for less than face value.

The News.

Other problem is Sheen may find himself out of luck when he tries to get a hotel room in New York.

He's playing Radio City on his "Violent Torpedo of Truth" tour April 8. But sources tell the New York Post he's blackballed at several New York hotels -- especially The Plaza, where he trashed his room last October after partying with a hooker.

The Plaza would turn him down and ditto for other high-profile properties, including the Waldorf-Astoria and the Trump Soho, sources told the Post.

He reportedly is now looking at renting a private residence.
