5 Comic Book Movies That Should Be Made and Why

5 comic book movies that I think should be made. It's as simple as that...

We always want our favorite characters to show up on the big screen, but usually our demands are never met. The demands are never met simply because not many people have an interest in smaller name heroes or villains. So I spent some time researching and decided on 5 comic book films that should be made due to their ability to keep indie credibility whilst being mainstream at the same time. As you read on, explanations will be given for each film and my lead actor/director picks.

1. The Joker - A Joker film would be perfect because The Joker has gotten a huge amount of popularity from The Dark Knight. It would sell well if they made The Joker like a mixture of the comical one from Batman ’89 and the terrorist one from The Dark Knight. The film would maintain its credibility because no one’s ever really touched upon doing a villain based film from major comic properties. I imagine the film starting out with the Killing Joke origins, then have Joker rise up the crime ladder and get fairly more psychotic throughout until the end. He would do a stint as The Red Hood for the first act of the movie. I think Tim Burton could do this really well. The movie would be like horror-meets action-meets gangster film.

2. Sandman - As stated in my previous article, I listed six reasons why a Sandman film should be made. I do have one more reason to add to that. Noir-style comic book characters are getting really popular now due to things like Marvel Noir and the recent Green hornet movie. If done similar to Green Hornet while keeping serious undertones, a Sandman movie would work incredibly well. It would just need the right amount of promotion to get success though.

Sandman/Wesley Dodds-Edward Norton (give him some glasses and gray his hair a little and your good to go)

3. Turf - Okay how could this not get big? Its set in the 40’s, it’s got vampires, gangsters and aliens and it has lovable characters and interesting storyline. The concept of a “turf war gone mad” would be huge with today’s action loving audiences. The film would be stuck between the action and gangster genres though, with elements of sci-fi and horror.

4. Moon Knight - With today’s saturation of everything Batman and things that are similar to Batman, Moon Knight would be perfect. He’s a grittier Batman who kills and has some mystic powers, How could audiences not want to see this. Only problem is that Moon Knight is a c-list character with little promotion behind him.

Director: Christopher Nolan(yes I’d have Nolan try his hand with a character who’s as complex as Batman with multiple personality disorders and such. Plus he kills as well)

5. The Green Arrow - Who doesn’t love a badass archer with multiple trick arrows? I don’t know either. But this film would be cool and the sorts of aerial and ground stunts that could be done would be visually dazzling. Visuals are obviously a huge factor in drawing in crowds too, as evidenced by Avatar. Plus, The Green Arrow has a likable back story and goes from being an abandoned orphan to a rich playboy. It would also be a great way to introduce him into the Justice League.

Hoped you enjoyed reading. tell me what you think!
